Does homeowners insurance in Michigan cover lost or stolen jewelry?

My boyfriend had his ex-fiance's engagement ring and wedding band's stolen. My mom told me that she thought home-owner's insurance might cover it. Has anyone else heard about this, or know if it's true?

on a standard HO3 homeowners policy it would be covered for THEFT but only up to a limit. (most states $1000-1500) If it was worth more or if it was just lost it would have to be scheduled onto the policy to have coverage. so if it was stolen, he would have to call police and file a report and have proof of ownership. anytime you have valuable jewelry its best to schedule onto your home policy so you have coverage no matter what and up to full value.
